Each playoff matchup has seen their first game played. So let’s look at how the series outlook may or may not have changed.
Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues
The atmosphere in Winnipeg is undeniable and the white out from the fans is AWESOME! This victory for the Jets had a lot more luck involved than many will wont to admit. Crucial goals that kept them in the game went in off lucky deflections while the Blues were able to beat Hellebuyck cleanly multiple times. He continues to show a weakness to the higher shots, especially the ones high to his glove side.
The Jets are the better team, but the Blues can eat away at the Jets confidence and Connor Hellebuyck’s in particular. The more goals they can score the lower the confidence will get for the President’s Trophy winners. Jordan Binnington wasn’t quite settled in for this game, but should settle more as the series continues. Keeping the games in Winnipeg close early in the series might give the Blues confidence to hold pace at home to make this series go long.
