Day 22
Carolina Hurricanes @ Philadelphia Flyers (Round 2, Game 4)
(Carolina wins series 4-0)
Carolina continues to knife through the playoffs as they are now 8-0 and have advanced to the Conference Semi-Finals. They now await the winner of the Montreal-Buffalo series, which has only two games played. Frederik Andersen and Taylor Hall are both putting up playoff performances that could win them the Conn Smythe. While they’ll have plenty of time to rest, they need to find the proper balance so they don’t get too rusty before the next round. The Flyers are still a young, developing team that should be very happy with how they performed this season. There are some tweaks and adjustments that Danny Briere needs to make, but they’ll have plenty of opportunity to make those moves.
Prediction before series: Carolina Hurricanes advance in 6 games
Prediction after Game One: Carolina Hurricanes advance in 5 games
Prediction after Game Two: Carolina Hurricanes advance in 5 games
Prediction after Game Three: Carolina Hurricanes advance in 4 games
Result: Carolina Hurricanes advance in 4 games
Colorado Avalanche @ Minnesota Wild (Round 2, Game 3)
(Colorado leads series 2-1)
I’m not going to put too much stock into one bad game for Scott Wedgewood. The Wild are a good team and have proven all season that they can score with the rest of the best. I fully expect Jared Bednar to give Wedgewood back his crease for Game Four on Monday night. Entering the game, the Avalanche hadn’t lost yet this postseason. The 5-1 loss will absolutely motivate the Avs to step up their game so they can get additional rest for the Conference Semifinals. The Wild are a very good team and are capable of winning a couple of games in this series. I still don’t see them winning the series. Colorado is still on another level.
Prediction Entering Matchup: Colorado Avalanche advance in 6 games
Prediction after Game One: Colorado Avalanche advance in 6 games
Prediction after Game Two: Colorado Avalanche advances in 4 games
Prediction after Game Three: Colorado Avalanche advances in 6 games.
